【摘要】:ThisPartofBS4359describesrecommendedmethodsforthedeterminationofmetalsurfaceareausinggasadsorption.Theyaresuitableforsupportedmonometalliccatalystswherethemetalsurfaceareadiffersfromthetotalsurfacearea.Thesemethodsmayalsobesuitableforothermetalcatalysts,suchassomeRaneymaterials.Specificrecommendationsaregivenforthedeterminationofmetalsurfaceareaofnickel,palladium,platinumandcopper.InformationontheextensionofthesemethodstoothermetalsinGroupsVIIIandIBoftheperiodictableisgiveninannexA.Recommendationsaremaderegardingthemostsuitablegasandtestmethodsforagivenmetal/supportcombination.Bothchemisorptionmethodsandthosewhichemploysurfacereaction(ortitration)aredescribed.Volumetricorflowtechniquesmaybeusedtodeterminetheamountofgaschemisorbed.Recommendationsaregiventocorrectforanyreversibleadsorptiondetectedusingthevolumetrictechnique.
