【摘要】:Thereferenceimmersionoilsdescribedinthispracticearerequiredforthedevelopmentofoil-resistantrubbercompoundsforuseinenvironmentswherecontactwithpetroleum-basedsolventsandoilsisencountered.Testsfortensilestrength,percentelongationatbreak,hardness,andpercentvolumeswellareperformedafteraspecifiedimmersiontimeperiod(ataspecifiedtemperature)intheevaluationofoil-resistantrubbers.Theresultsofsuchtestingbyrubberproductmanufacturersandtheircustomersareusedtodevelopoil-resistantrubbersorcompounds,orboth.TestingwithASTMOilsNo.2andNo.3isusedtoverifycompliancewithpurchasespecificationswhichreferencetheoil-resistantclassesofrubbersandelastomerslistedinTable6ofClassificationD2000.TheseoilsarealsousedincomparativeperformanceevaluationtestingofO-ringsandO-ringcompoundsascitedinTestMethodsD1414.Theuseofthesereferenceoilsisrequiredforthedevelopmentandselectionofoil-resistantrubbercompoundshavingacceptableoroptimumperformancecharacteristics,orboth.1.1ThispracticecoversthreeimmersionoilstobeusedasreplacementsforASTMNo.1,No.2,andNo.3immersionoilsascalledforinTestMethodD471.TheimmersionoilswillbedesignatedasIRM901asareplacementforASTMNo.1oil,IRM902asareplacementforASTMNo.2oil,andIRM903asareplacementforASTMNo.3oil.ThenewreferenceoilshavebeendevelopedunderanewCommitteeD11policyonreferencematerials(seePracticeD4678forbackgroundonthenewpolicyandprocedures).1.2Theoils,IRM901,IRM902,andIRM903,aresimilarbutnotfullyequivalenttoASTMNo.1,ASTMNo.2,andASTMNo.3oil,respectively.RefertoTable1foradescriptionofthetypicalpropertiesandspecificationsfortheseoils.1.3Thispracticegivesthenecessarybackgroundanddetailsonthechangeoverfromthepreviousoilstothenewoils.SeeAnnexA1foradditionalinformationonthecommercialoilsselectedtoreplaceASTMNo.2andNo.3oilandthetestprogramconductedforthisselectionprocess.ThechangeoverfromASTMtoIRMoilsisproposedintwosteps:1.3.1Step18212;AtransitionphasethatmakesuseoftheEquivalentVolumeSwell(EVS)foreachofthetworeplacementoils.EVS(902)istheASTMNo.2percentvolumeswellvaluecalculatedfromthemeasuredpercentvolumeswellvalueusingIRM902astheimmersionliquid.AsimilarcalculationcanbeusedtocalculatetheanalogousEVS(903)andEVS(903)values.TheEVSvalueisobtainedasacorrectionofthemeasuredIRM901,902,or903percentvolumeswellvalue.TheEVSvaluesmaybeusedtodetermineifvolumeswellspecificationsaremetwhenthespecificationsareexpressedintermsofASTMNo.1,No.2,orNo.3limits,and1.3.2Step28212;AlongertermpolicychangeorconversionofspecificationsfromASTMNo.1,No.2,andNo.3valuestoIRM901,902,and903values.1.4TheEVSvaluesarecalculatedonthebasisofx201C;correctionequationsx201D;derivedfromoneoftwosources.1.4.1CorrectionequationsderivedfromtheresultsofthecomprehensiveevaluationprogramconductedtoselecteachofthetworeplacementoilsfromagroupofthreecandidateoilsforASTMNo.2andNo.3oils.ThisprogramisdescribedinAnnexA1.1.4.2Correctionequationsderivedfromin-housecustomizedorspecifictestingprogramstomakedirectcomparisonsofthevolumeswell(andotherimportantproperties)oftheIRMandASTMoils.Theseprogramsshouldbeconductedineachlaboratoryofthoseorganizationst......
